Images of India|
A photographic Journey.
Photographs and design by Denise Newland.
From the moment one steps out into the street from Delhi Airport they are
overwhelmed by the sound, smells and intensity of Indian humanity. Even my relatively short visit to this country filled me with awe and amazement at the colour,
contrasts and contradictions to be experienced practically every minute of my stay in India.
From the street people, living and sleeping on the footpaths just metres away from entrances to luxury hotels and homes of the wealthy, to the hectic activity in the villages.
Women in bright coloured sariís working the dusty fields, the men their vibrant turbans, the local markets, bazaars and street vendors .....
madness on the roads with camels, elephants and cattle, brightly painted trucks, tuk-tuks, cycles of all types - all sharing the roads in a highly unorganized but
accepted way.......... noise, smells, people and colour everywhere.
Limited to an Edition of 100
- The everyday people going about their daily lives.
- The women - rich and poor, from city and villages. All colourful, all dignified.
- My imagination went wild visualizing what life would have been like days when these
magnificent Palaces and Forts were home to the Nobles and Rulers of this country. The richness and grandeur is unsurpassed.
- .......and I was very intrigued by the thousands of interesting doorways,
windows, niches and other architecturally
pleasing features that I came
across in the buildings throughout my travels.
