Heidi Griffin
Born in England, but has been living in New Plymouth for 5 years, is married with 3 children and has a hope of dogs, chickens and a huge kitchen one day.

Attended college in England but not having what you'd call formal training in the art of art, just enjoyed the "free for all" years of experimenting with different mediums and techniques. As well as building up a large social circle. Heidi threw herself into everything she did with gusto and enthusiasm. But found that wasn't enough to earn a living. (Unfortunately). On leaving college she had a number of jobs from cook to chalkboard artist. All creative in their own way, but not careers as such for her.

Painting has always been fun for Heidi, enjoying the instant gratification of paint on canvas. The clean lines and bold colours of her style gives a simplified but quite graphic representation of what Heidi is trying to portray. Colour is an important part of Heidi's world. Her love and passion for colour is an essential ingredient in her art, her life and her outlook. From her clothes to her décor, colour plays a major part. It was the natural choice that her paintings also were big and bold and colourful.

People and their interaction has always fascinated Heidi and the socializing, laid back side of life has been something she tries to live by herself. Heidi has tried to show this in her paintings, bringing a smile to the viewer. Whether it be a distant memory or the longing that life was still that easy, Heidi hopes the onlooker can see themselves in her paintings. And because of this she purposefully excluded the faces.

A face is such an expressive feature to a person. In a painting the onlooker is naturally drawn to the face, studying the features and expressions and often missing what else the painting is offering. Heidi hopes the body language, the scenery, the weather, the relaxation, the colours and the warmth, come out of her paintings without the need for a face to express this.

I hope you enjoy my paintings, I have enjoyed painting them.
Best regards ..... HG.
