Jerry Leyendecker, USA
To Alby:
Saw your work on TART and really like it. It is the kind of representative/abstract painting that I really like because it bridges them both (like a good Cezanne). Tell me, what are your prices. The TART site does not give that information. JL

August 2, 1999

derek treeby, New Zealand
My vists to the Govett have been disapointing of late
Maybe I am out of order but I would be more satisfied if more works such as the group of artist I have seen on these pages.
I understand that overseas work should be available but so far what I have seen has done nothing for me
I do not understand all of the art shown but at least I have an emotional exprience of love or hate.
I must confess the pages shown here -the emotion is love.
Regards
Derek

Janet Keen, New Zealand
thanku so much for the virtual tart posting i love the work by Alby Carter....and am sending the url to some of my friends...well worth a look .

August 1, 1999

little bobby duncan, USA
I think that Alby Carter's images are really delicious! The color ,the movement are really wonderful. Having lived a while in northern California, I understand how beautiful nature all-around can impact one's work [I had many giant redwoods appear in my work while there, and still]. Your paintings make me want to walk those roads. Thank you.
Also, I enjoyed the students' show, but my damnslow computer took forever to download those images.

Cathy Dee is obviously a genius and shoud be given a Doctorate and a tenured full-time lectureship without further delay.

Sorry, I forgot to mention in my previous comment that the infamous "Beyond WeetBix" Exhibition is featured in the Ars Nova 2000 Gallery at:
http://home.earthlink.net/~jcleyen/gallery_guide.htm
Take a look from a different perspective...from the other side of the planet, all you would be "cereal killers".
And to all the real ones, best of luck and success.

Margaret, I have just visited your exhibition and it was just stupendous. The composition is dramatic in its lineal qualities and you are obviously a natural born colourist. I love the symbolism and basically I just love Treasures of our Coast.

I loved Roger Morris' work, especially the Small blue tin series, and Marianne Muggeridge's landscapes are stunning.
I don't usally rave about the art I see around, and I visit NY galleries pretty often, but I find the work you show very inspiring, and humbling too!

June 2, 1999

Just saw your show on virtual tart. It's truly remarkable to sit here in New Jersey and see such beautiful work from New Zealand. If I didn't plan on doing my own art, I might spend the whole day looking at everyone else's around the world! Thanks for sharing.

As a museum/art gallery registrar/ curator/ potter, currently based in Nelson, I was happy to find a cultural/art site giving local New Zealand creations. Interesting and innovative. Loved the costumes! I gather from other comments that you update it regularly. I'll definitely look again.
Good work!

Marriane,
I really love the paintings of yours I saw at this website.
I'm from Manaia and have been here in London fornearly nine months.
I'd really love to have a print of your painting of Mount Taranaki,
it's breathtakingly beautiful. How can I get one over here?
I'd really like to know.
Thanks, and keep up the brilliant work,
Stephen.

Jason Fleming, New Zealand
It is wonderful to see Taranaki getting exposure, We are all too often reminded of other parts of NZ's beauty, but in reality "Taradise" is the real jewel.

May 9, 1999

Atanner West
taranaki artists certainly deserve the exposure.

May 6, 1999

IaIn DoUgLaS, UK
I read something in one of our papers about art ( specifically post modern ) being a means of generating words.
I suppose thats why i'm always expected to contextualize and explain.
Once again i'm happy to have had a visit, are things spiralling out of control?
See you soon from exactly opposite the world.
IAIN.

I have just recently done something that I have wanted to do for some time.. get into B&W photography. I have been told I have an eye for it.. and I enjoy it..anway, as an expat Kiwi living in Florida, I was surfing the net looking at photography sights and came across yours... I enjoyed it and wanted to drop you a line.

Dave Newton
I've been o'seas a few years now , but when did RHM's house get turfed? And can you point me to any news stories on the hows & whys. To be turned into a KFC is insulting, to say the least. Whatever people may have thoght of him, he wrote with a genuine kiwi voice, and I would put him up with Ray Bradbury as a good writer of small town life.

April 19, 1999

Valora, Australia
I'm a Kiwi born artist living in Central Queensland.
What a great site!
Compliments to the Artists especially Karen Hamer.

April 10, 1999

Alan Clark, New Zealand
Hi guys.
Great stuff from Taranaki.
I wrote to the Mayoress before the demolition reminding her of where she stood before her election, but alas, it fell on deaf ears and once again Sahawera the cultural desert of New Zealand destroyed another part of its heritage...

April 9, 1999

Tony Kuppen
Just browsing
I as an artist myself has been living in Waitara for eight years and I saw the names of familiair artist like for instance Dale Copeland - she once bought an artwork of me that was in the review.

Hi Karen,

Mike O'Kane, New Zealand
From Ronald Morrieson's Window made me come over all nostalgic... and I've never been there particularly.

April 3, 1999

Celia Burney, United Arab Emirate
Your art reminded me of the years I spent as a youth in Opunake.
Still love the mountain.
Refreshing to see the greenness of the pastures in direct contrast to the desert here in the Middle East.
Keep up your splendid work.

April 3, 1999

Overwhelmed to say the least of it.
